Consultation & Workshops
I always work with you to learn your goals and then I develop materials and content to meet those goals.  I begin each workshop in two ways.  First - I check in with the group to see what they want in terms of "take aways" and I list them on the board.  Following the workshop, we revisit that list to see if I "delivered."  Second - I do a simple, non-threating pre/post measure so you can document cognitive growth of your participants to your administration.

I have been part of accreditation review teams that reviewed community engagement centers at Barry University, Providence College, and the University of Maryland
I have consulted and conducted workshops at the following institutions:

University of Michigan - Flint
University of San Diego
Duquesne University
Saint Francis University
Oberlin College
Sewanee University of the South
Carroll College
Earlham College
Lewis University
Notre Dame de Namir
Washington Campus Compact
  1. Course Development
This is a day-long workshop designed to help instructors conceptualize and develop service-learning courses based on objectives, partnership development, student engagement, reflection, and assessment. The workshop includes other important information such as cultural competency and how to integrate teaching and scholarship for promotion and tenure.
  2. Reflection
This is a hands-on, learn-by-doing workshop that introduces a variety of reflection strategies that includes assessment procedures. Participants learn how written reflection and oral discussion can be a teaching and learning tool to make meaning of service-learning experiences.
  3. Institutionalization & Carnegie Classification
Using the information from my book and data from the National Inventory of Institutional Infrastructure for Community Engagement (NIIICE) I consult with and/or provide workshops for administrators and center directors to learn more about systemic and cultural factors coupled with purpose, platforms, and programs to promote community engagement on campus. This information is useful in applying or re-applying for the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement. I am a vetted consultant approved and recommended by the Carnegie Foundation.
